This year's flu shot was 16% effective...that is the same as not effective at all. I have heard people say "well 16% better than nothing". I don't agree and I do not take them. But the premise for the flu shot is that it is anticipatory for next year's projected flu. The fact that they are always wrong should dawn on folks eventually, so hear! hear! to Vinay's suggestion that this be re-evaluated.
Even stupider, most health care institutions will let you exempt yourself from flu, but then "wear a mask" even though this has been repeatedly shown to be utterly useless vis-à-vis the flu specifically (in addition to vis-à-vis Covid). But none will let you exempt yourself from covid because that is government mandate. The mandators should all be fired/jailed or worse IMO. But irrespective, the cases are completely different.
Vinay is getting pithier and increasingly more pointed as he gets increasingly disgusted. Just need to get him off his "masks are bioplausible" (and geocentriciy was geoplausible, too) shtick and we will be just about there.
And Makary should be ashamed. He has ventured out some, but is still way short of Vinay in terms of confronting the truth.
I suspect our good doctor might be being pressured to take a fourth shot himself. And he’s starting to see what this is all really about! The only issue I have with this piece is the “should get vaccinated” in regards to older people. Otherwise, please continue to belabour the other points!!!
Thanks so much, Dr. Prasad, for all you do to get factual information out for lay people like me. I'm almost 66 and in the past 2.5 years have gotten one flu vaccine (my only flu vaccination) and 2 doses of the Pfizer COVID vaccine. After all that's happened surrounding COVID, I now have ZERO confidence in Big Pharma, the FDA, the CDC and Dr. Fauci. I WILL NEVER GET ANOTHER VACCINE. It has everything to do with these agencies lying to us, changing the rules, putting profit ahead of everything, not following any sort of science, etc.

We all know many in the medical field who are stupidly following along and continue not to question or make a mark at all in this issue….therefore giving healthy patients under age 65 continued recommendations for boosters… 3rd …& sure why not a 4th?! Idiotic. I wonder if some legal movements like mal-practice when adverse events occur….will be the thing that makes many providers wake up to what they should’ve done… what evidence or lack there of that they should’ve looked into more before recc. MORE boosters… What they should’ve spoken up about more?! Something has to give. Someone needs to pay the price…& it shouldn’t be the patients.
I'll bet even if the majority of people within an institution like a school or business want to get rid of the mandates, there's so much bureaucratic sclerosis that it'll take months and months of "review committees" to do it. Or maybe administration will just figure it'll be easier to leave in place.
A recent job I took mandated vaccines even though it was purely online. I asked HR why when I came in to file some paperwork, and they had no answer for me.
"Gleeful delusion" is apt, and it's also pretty much diametrically opposed to "a society that is intelligent." We've seen it before: the siren song of lucre will lead many to undermine the basic tenets of science and democracy.
I agree with most of your views. I am thrilled about the fact that you have the courage to present your views disregarding pressure for conformity in academia. One would expect such rational views to be more common among professionals educated in biology and medicine but unfortunately it is not. I think annual flu shots are also hyped. The benefit it offers is likely to be negligible or non-existent if one were to do a study. These became norm before the advent of social media, so it escaped the counter arguments and demands for evidence that COVID boosters are getting today. Most economically disadvantaged countries in the world do not have this annual flu shot culture and you don't hear many people dying of flu there due to lack of annual flu shots. It is a good candidate for reversal.

The comparison to flu shots makes me never want to get a flu shot again. At this point, I assume they’re as evidence free as “boosters”.

I'm in that 65+ group and when questioned about any booster, I have questions.
Repeated administration of a PEGylated adjuvant that also acts as a surfactant? Data please?
Studies on occurrence of adjuvant binding at Very Long Fatty Acid receptors in the pancreas? Any info.?
Movement into the CNS and brain due to it's surfactant quality?
