The risk/benefit ration for children seems against the covid vaccine. The excuse to vaccinate seems to relate to children spreading the virus to others as is quite common during the flu season. But the evidence that children spread materially for this virus is minimal perhaps because of their smaller lungs. There may even be future heath benefits to allowing them to be infected if infection provides a high degree of immunity, now and into an unknown future. But with the original SARS still showing strong antibody response over many years, that future seems good for SARs-2.
This should be sent to organizations that represent and inform school boards nationwide, who clearly respect parents and children and - er - well...nevermind.
I had hospitalization at 1/2000 for healthy kids when we did around 1 of the dose. So I feel better about that. However, learning about the Number Needed to Vaccinate and applying it has me stuck once again in the mental space of feeling we are about to make a mistake as 2nd does is this Thursday. I mean we're betting the vaccine is so safe we can give 2 million shots to save 1, maybe 3 lives, and not hurt more than we help? Anaphylaxis happens 10 times in a million. What about accidental intravenous injections? What are we doing?
But I've said my peace and that is all I can do, it's in God's hands.
