Like it or not, Dr. Fauci is one of our top leaders in the fight to tame the pandemic. Some leaders are good. Some are bad. The worst believe in their own infallibility. Dr. Fauci has convinced me he is in that latter camp. He needs to go.

When I heard the “I represent science” quote I thought of 2 diametrically opposed things: megalomania and Thomas Dolby’s She Blinded me with Science video.

Retiring gracefully is clearly not something Dr Fauci is capable of.

In a culture where nothing counts unless it is corporate-sponsored, yes, Fauci is emblematic of our 'corporatized science'.

VP, I’d love to hear your perspective on the BMJ whistleblower. Have you written or commented on this yet?

Fauci has been gradually morphing himself into a caricature of his once-relatively-trustworthy self. I've seen comments on various social-media posts in which people outside the US express antipathy toward Fauci; at least one of those comments suggested that dislike (to put it mildly) toward Fauci is widespread in countries that have endured draconian measures in their pandemic responses. He has done this to himself, as far as I can see. And this latest interview is a rich source of examples of his hubris and astounding lack of self-awareness.

Dr Fauci has become quite full of himself. Tragic.

it’s really not a good take obviously. For those with a political lens, it could sound like he’s camping with Ds & their view that Rs are anti-science. By claiming the mantle of science, anyone that does question him, is questioning Science itself. his supporters/critics fall along political lines and that statement I think just reinforces that division. It is hard but a “no comment, go ask them” would be better IMO—stay above the fray, be apolitical and stick to explaining what we know to inform the public and policymakers.

On a lighter note, it reminded me of Dolores Umbridge responding to Prof. mcgonagall: to question my methods is to question the Ministry of Magic and the Minister of Magic himself…

can’t have that!

It was a long, hard search but we finally found a man in Fauci who appears to be more of a narcissist than Donald Trump.

Sadly, the world followed his policies as well. Canada follows the US. ( wether cdns admit this or not) . As a prominent twitter account stated, this ends in 2024.

Number 9 makes me think or the recent article (last week) arguing against a lab leak. It seemed poor (at this late stage) and as if "more of the same" is to be considered new evidence. Would be interested in a Dr VP take.
