It’s hard to watch the powers that be pretend they haven’t known these things. Makes me worried for what’s next.

OK. Welp. Wen is certainly authorized to float/parrot the official narrative, so it's fascinating to hear her state (without compunction) that this pillar of virtuous conformity was made of plaster of Paris rather than stone. Maybe the masking displays will be expected to include N95s now (massive gaps around the nose optional).
Fear mongering over a (far?) more mild variant seems like a great way to vaporize what little credibility they have left. That anyone with a fully functioning brain is still listening to this stuff is a testament to the skill with which they've manipulated the unwitting public into hysterical levels of fear.
I just want these people to leave us alone (and for their actions to be judged in totality). Please let the mildness of Omicron permit this be the last, desperate gasp of this absurd and insulting propaganda campaign!
Great analysis. No good evidence to support mask use. My suspicion is that this is a question of optics. We need masks to "stop transmission" so we don't have to resort to lockdowns.
This time will be looked upon (specifically masking 2yr olds when so many countries do not do this) as an utter embarrassment for the U.S as far as mitigation procedures. I can just hear my MD friends in Ireland saying to themselves..."wait...I thought US MDs & scientists were amongst the most intelligent in the world.....ummm maybe not?!"......it really cannot be explained. Its like delusional stupidity that is WAY more contagious than Omicron!!!
In CA, masking policies aren’t set by childcare centers themselves; the CA Dept of Ed drove these mandates and Public Health Officers often required even tighter restrictions. Layers and layers of rules, including “no soft objects” in a child’s classroom (!) We literally had to remove stuffed animals and dress- up materials. Children have literally been taught not to share!
Locally, in Santa Cruz Co. childcare admin have turned each other in where deemed in violation, resulting in program closures in an industry already decimated since 2020. Make it stop!

Agree 200%. Not sure when or how all this nonsense stops. I suspect with an election year coming it’s only going to get worse.
